Newton Stories
In 2024, we're exploring the Newton Estate in Lancaster. We'll be delving into local history, discovering forgotten stories and re-seeding this corner of the city with myths and folklore.
As part of the project, we've created the Newton 1939 map, showing the history of the estate on the eve of the second world war.
 

Spill the Mill Race
During 2023, in collaboration with Lancaster Arts, About Time Dance and Lancaster Pottery Studio we explored the hidden histories and forgotten myths of the Mill Race area of Lancaster. Over 200 people, including young people, refugee groups and the public, created their own versions of these stories. Some of these tales were depicted in pottery or turned into clog dancing routines which were displayed at St John's Church in the heart of the Mill Race. Many of these stories have now been added to the Lore. Find them on the story map or look for the QR plaques around the city!
